Love Jam: the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day

“Where there is love there is life.”  (Gandhi)

We are not the kind of people who put a huge emphasis on holidays like Valentine’s Day, or even anniversairies. We are about completely random surprises: flowers without any occasion, baking cookies just because, a love note to start the day and of course the necessary loving hugs. This ‘love jam’ I am about to share is just a little random thing from an ordinary day of our lives, but as Valentine’s Day coming up, I must note that this could be a wonderful little something for that occasion as well.

All you need it an empty jam bottle (or whatever other bottle), some colorful long pieces of paper (I only had blue and orange on hand), a marker and a stapler. Grab the papers and write some loving notes on the papers. They can be famous quotes about love, your personal love notes to your loved one or the mix of the two. Fold the papers in half, then turn the ends inwards so it forms a heart. Staple (or perhaps glue) the ends together so the heart shape holds. Put the little hearts into the jam bottle until it is full. Close the jar. Voila: you have ‘love jam’ to be used when love is needed.

Happy loving!

  1. Excellent idea! When I was still a stained glass artist, I used to use my little scrap pieces of antique church glass and engrave special memories on them. I’d put them in pretty boxes and give them to the people I was thinking of. So simple, yet so special.
